Why are PBi Digitally Printed Bags Better?

We use the same high quality bag making processes and Q.C. standards that have made Pacific Bag the go-to-name in Specialty Coffee, Pet Food and Snack Foods. We apply these disciplines to the new technology of digital package printing to provide you with a bag that looks as nice as the best package in the grocery store with the purchase of as little as 1,000 bags.

What is a Variety?

If you want a total of 6,000 bags with the same style, size and features, but you want to divide the 6,000 bags into three different looks of at least 1,000 bags per look, you have three Varieties.

The minimun order quantity per variery is 1,000 bags and the maximum order total is 20,000 bags.

If you need a higher quantity than 20,000 bags, please email us at dl-pacificbag-printsimpledigital@tricorbraunflex.com.

What is a Side Gusseted Bag?

Side gusseted bags are named for the gusset, or fold, on either side of the bag. The gussets expand when the package is filled with product, and the weight of the product usually holds the bag upright. This package format has two long faces, or panels, on the front and the back for product branding. The side gusset bag is the recognized format for coffee packaging today. It is also widely used in other markets such as, pet food, powders goods, teas and other specialty food products.

What is a Stand Up Pouch?

The name, Stand-Up Pouch, aptly describes the package format. It is, in fact, a pouch that will stand up, and first gained popularity as the drink pouch (with a straw) for children. You will often see Stand-Up Pouch abbreviated to the industry term—SUP. The stand-up pouch provides consumers with market-friendly features like zipper reclosure, tear notches, the versatility of hang hole features, strong shelf presence and an attractive billboard for label and graphics. Stand-up pouches are sold into a wide variety of markets including pet food, coffee, tea, natural products and specialty foods. Products such as crackers, cookies, nuts, dried fruit, candy, chips and powders are often seen in a stand up pouch.

What is Glossy Finish?

A glossy finish is the sheen on the reverse printed polyester film layer of the bag's structure.

What is Matte Finish?

Matte Finish - Matte finish is a treatment of the outer layer which gives it a softer, more muted finish. PBi uses Matte OPP (Matte Polypropylene) to achieve this affect.

What is a Clear Bag?

Clear material is transparent medium barrier material. It allows your customer to see the product in areas where there is no printing. Areas where there is no printing can be used to create a "window." Medium barrier material provides good moisture barrier for salty snacks, dry food, pet treats, etc.

What is a One Way Degassing Valve?

The simple, yet ingenious One-Way Degassing Valve allows gas to exit a package without allowing air to get in.  The valve is essential for packaging fresh coffee.  It is also used to release air pressure from large bags (e.g. petfood, resin, agricultural products, etc.) to allow stable pallet stacks. The valve is a disc shaped device about the size of a quarter.  It is heat sealed to the inside of a flexible package. PBi’s One-Way Degassing Valve has high performance and its unique one-piece design allows it to use over 35% less plastic compared to other two-piece designs on the market.

What is a Tin Tie?

Tin-ties are used as reclosure for side gusseted bags. Fold down the top of the bag and secure using the tin-tie. Tin-ties are easy to apply to the bag with their peel-and-stick backing, similar to a sticker or label. Recommended for use on 8 oz and 12-16 oz side gusseted bags.

What is a Zipper?

Located below the tear notch, the zipper is a"must have" feature in certain markets because it's convenient and user friendly.

What is a Tear Notch?

Consumers use the tear notch to rip open the top of the pouch.

What is a Hang Hole?

A hang hole is an added feature that allows for product to be hung on pegboards or hanging racks at the point of purchase.

What do I do with the template?

Bag templates are meant to show the layout of the various panels on the bag (i.e. front, back and gussets). Please place your design elements as you would like them to appear on each panel of the finished bag. When uploading your art files please be sure to include the template so that the artwork can be properly placed when printed. Please note that, though the template guidelines will be visible on the proof, the lines will not be printed on the finished bag.

After you have placed your art on the template, return to pbinow.com to upload your completed art template and begin your purchase.

I am new to the art process, help?

For help review the Digital Artwork Requirements on this page. The Digital Artwork Requirements contain information for artwork file and submission requirements.

Once your artwork files have been uploaded a representative from PBi's Custom Projects Group will review your art to confirm that the files are suitable for digital printing.

If there is a problem with the files you will be notified so that art files can be fixed and uploaded again to PBInow.com.

Please note that additional reviews for artwork that is resubmitted will result in a charge of $50 per review.

What is a patterned white layer OR white ink backing?

In order to improve color accuracy a white ink layer will be placed between the printed design and the bag substrate. Include a white layer within your files to indicate where you would like to place the white ink base. This is important if your design includes a transparent window area for clear structures. Designating the white base placement is also important if you would like inks to print with a metallic appearance from the foil substrate backing it (CLICK HERE to enlarge example).
